Working with director Willemskantine and Sevdaliza was an absolute delight on this project featuring: Sevdaliza, Grimes, Madonna, Julia Fox, and A$AP Ferg. What a ridiculously hyped roll call!
I should make it abundantly clear that this was all produced with permission and in consultation with the artists who provided the reference imagery to work from.
While I was the more senior VFX Artist on the project, the bulk of the AI driven face replacements were executed by Jim Dirks, a super talented junior Flame Artist. I then ran the timeline and took on more of a communication role, showing Jim the ropes of on-set supervision, briefing the talent on assets we needed to feed the AI model, and giving Jim some compositing tips. He’s a fast learner to say the least 🙂
I also did the Houdini FX work on the melting marble and floor shots. Not my normal VFX tool but I was keen to dip my toe in and I was delighted with the results.
Update: It won Gold at the 2024 AEAF Awards!
